Dolly Parton was born on the 19th January, 1946 on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up with 12 other children. Her vivid imagination allowed her to escape the harsh realities of everyday life. Before she learned to read or write Dolly Parton was composing her own music. Within 8 years she had her very first guitar. At age 11 she started singing at Knoxville Tenn's local radio station. The first album she recorded was during the same year with Gold Band Records, a small label that was an independent. While she was a local star while in high school, her ambitions were bigger. After graduating from the high school in 1964, she moved immediately to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her two first charting albums for Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated show on TV in the late '60s, was looking for a singer on his show. Parton was signed to RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She was hired in the year 1967. The show ended in 1974 as her solo albums like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. Parton wrote I Will Always Love You in honor of Wagoner following their split. The song reached the top of the charts at. Its first appearance at the top spot was in 1974.
