April Ross

April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball players to have won medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix Klineman is a new Olympian and will join her in Tokyo. But more than that, Ross will be aiming for her first Olympic gold. This may be the last opportunity she gets to do so at the age of 39. However, she is certain of taking top honors. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a sister. In Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous different sports. When she was a student in the prep school, she competed in basketball, indoor volleyball as well as running track. However she was clearly an edge over the other players in the latter sport. As a college volleyball season as per her college biography she played as an outside-hitter, middle-blocker and setter. She was awarded by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. Also, she won the award in 2000. The individual accomplishments of her have established her place as a legendary volleyball player. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross who was a USC international relations student was a star in volleyball. Margie Ross wasn't able to watch her daughter's rise to the beach volleyball spotlight. When Ross was a sophomore in USC her mother died of breast cancer. As a result, Ross is still near to her mother who passed away. Margie has inspired her in her life and on the beach.
